Water: What is the Recipe?

A recipe covers everything from a list of things for hashing up (re-working) into another to the organised method for doing this. Sense can be made of it that a recipe requires at least two components for the new preparation to be made, and for either of the two definitions to hold sway. From long, long ago, forces here and there have caused nature to produce one of the simplest recipe preparations of all time. This is the recipe for the production of water- the substance of the body's irrigation system.

The Origin- Speculation or Fact?

Before we continue with all the rantings and jargon about how it is made, Who cares anyway?, let us make a note of the fact that there are different forms of water. Huh! I bet that's no news. But, water is principally made of two substances: hydrogen and oxygen. Someone might be wondering, does it mean drinking table water is made from theses sources too? and my answer is an emphatic yes. Then, how?

To make anything of this, we need to delve into the history books. While some say, icy comets from the beginning of time crashed into the earth to produce water, others say it is from asteroids that shoot themselves spontaneously from the stars, still views are there about water coming from water. Common knowledge agree on one thing, though: the production of unbearable amount of energy after the production of water in the chemical way. Although a veering off into the natural side of things too might spark of the concept of direct creation from the creator. All of these ideas, however their merits, do not leave us in doubt as to the products of water's composition, which still stand at oxygen and hydrogen, and are responsible for existence, regardless, carrying with it that immensely enormous power!

The conclusion? It may not be known for certain where original water came from, which is responsible for the production of the many different forms required for man's sustenance, but we know two molecules of it is made from the two molecules of hydrogen and one of oxygen, which makes it one of the finest known recipes- No salt, no sugar, no flour, absolutely nothing of complications in its make-up. Little wonder, it is said to be colorless, odorless and tasteless at its purest form. The Hindenburg and the Space Challenger projects lend credence to this. Enough of that!

Remedies By Water

Now what's the point of it all? Are there remedies we get from water? If so, are they just useful and can sometimes be dispensed with? or are they of utmost importance and infinitely beneficial? To understand this, we have to take a good long look beneath the veneer of obviousness. Then we have to start to think like the Engineers that we truly are- the ability to create or invent anything at all confers this title on each one of us(not to go head-to head with the law in this regard because I understand the reservation of this title). We are now left to do a break-down of the different forms in which water exist. Then we can explore the possibilities of uses or remedies with each one form. There we go!

Wait a minute! Have I said anything about the water cycle, which by jargon is called the hydrological cycle? Hmmm. I sure want this piece as simple as it is enjoyable. But not to worry about the hydrological cycle. It is just how the cycle of water continues throughout the life process, from the earth to the skies basically, and vice versa just as a continuum.

The Two Big Forms

Water from the ground exist in between rocks and cracks under the ground. This water is stored up for accumulation in a place called an aquifer for further collection through wells and pumps. Do you see it now? This water form is mostly clean with little or no waste or chemicals, which can be absorbed by the soil along its routes. Then the bigger picture:

Surface water is the real deal. it is the bulk of the water forms because it contains smaller forms of lakes, rivers, ponds, streams, wetlands and oceans where the surface water salinity comes from. Yes, oceans supply their salty contents to its other derivatives. And what do you expect, can it be any cleaner than its other form?

Know melting glaciers? They are snow particles that remain long enough to engender the formation of ice, a form of water. Special, right? Strange also are they because they move like running water.

Remember the Engineer that you are? or at least, with this much said we already have a vital part of an Engineer's knowledge. So where do we go from here? Definitely to the remedies straight on and kaput!

Going From The Ordinary to The Sublime

Have you had a at least a cup of water today? Imagine you never did, or at least you were forced not to by circumstance beyond control. Cheerio! to the hero that goes the whole hog without water. But how long more can you go? I trust by the time you do 360 degrees- I mean going round the clock you would be begging for a drop of it. That's how maddening we can all be without this source of life, not to mention their relevance to nature's washing needs. Plants crave this as much as we do and reproduction for them hinges greatly on a bountiful supply of water, and animals themselves cannot do without. And then, almost with certainty, fish would be homeless without it. Any more?

What do we have to do in a baking hot day when it appears the rays of the sun have gotten the better of their guard and comes ready to tan our hide? Almost everyone seeks a refreshing; We want the pleasant alternative. Without ado, many will look to catch a wind of air- fresh and clean alfresco, perhaps along the coast. Where is the amazing breeze coming from? Ever heard of the Land and Sea Breeze? Now don't budge. This is a simple process of replacing the hot air of the baking hot day by a cooler one- which comes from the sea-water. What's the method to this madness? The heat is collected and trapped by the sea while it supplies its refreshing kind in the direction of land. Would we then ever be able to escape the effects of erythema or melanoma on our otherwise helpless selves without the cover of water?

Off to water power? Yes, the energy we get from water transcends its use within the confines of the homes. Industries appreciate it more! Water drives their operations and serves to translate itself into other forms of energy. Failing this, our clothes, our foods and our means of transportation will suffer leaving us living our lives in misery. And the grips of poverty will hold tenaciously to mankind.

To make it count, water certainly helps to reduce the effects of climate change. A globally warm atmosphere would require a proportionate amount of water to suppress its strain by counterbalancing the effects of green-house gases. This is made possible through evaporation and precipitation. Two processes that are started and finished by the power of water.

The existence of water in the liquid, solid and gaseous forms shows that water is a versatile blessing to man. Although, in consideration of cases of droughts and floods, two polarised woes to man, we are tempted to think it has its ugly downsides. But has man not pushed the limits by his actions of contempt and slight through polluting the very blessing that drives the essence of other creations?
